Everyone knows that April showers bring May flowers. Now that April is here, Lawrence residents expect not only showers, but floods. Here’s what experts at the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommend that you do in the event of a serious flood:
- Keep animals and children away from any areas contaminated by flood water.
- Always wear protective gear (goggles and rubber boots and gloves) during clean up.
- Get rid of everything contaminated with flood waters that cannot be cleaned.
- Make sure that you take care of yourself first and seek medical help if you are sick or hurt.
